Polyphony Digital has revealed the latest planned release date for Gran Turismo 5, a PlayStation 3 driving simulator which has been in development for six years.

Retailers: Gran Turismo 5 to miss Christmas release

Today was the day we were supposed to finally, maybe play Gran Turismo 5 -- not even Walmart, it seems, can get over the latest delay. A search for the game today on the retailer's site turned up an "In Stock" result; though clicking through to the product prompted only a pre-order option.

New GT5 delay in order to 'iron out kinks'

Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauch has called the latest in the long series of delays to GT5 'inexcusable' on his Twitter account, telling his followers that the game still has kinks which need ironing out.

Gran Turismo 5 at Tokyo Game Show



During Tokyo Game Show Polyphony Digital updated on situation with Gran Turismo 5.

Biggest updates:
  • My Home page will be used as main place for experience, objectives, etc.
  • Revieled new cars like Isuzu 4200R ’89, Citroën GT by Citroën Race Car, Volkswagen typ2 (T1) Samba Bus ‘62, Volkswagen Kubelwagen typ82 ‘44, Volkswagen Schwimmwagen typ166 ‘42.
  • New tracks from GT history, such as Trial Mountain Circuit, Laguna Seca Raceway, Sarthe 2009.
  • Weather Change Effects were implemented.
